About BioHealth Pain Management
Advanced Pain Care.
Personalized to You.
At BioHealth Pain Management, we understand that pain can affect far more than one part of the body. It can interfere with movement, sleep, work, relationships, and the ability to enjoy everyday life. Our goal is to help patients better understand the source of their pain and find a treatment path designed around their individual needs.
Our experienced pain management physicians provide comprehensive care for acute and chronic pain conditions using a combination of advanced diagnostics, interventional pain management, and evidence-based treatment options.
We believe effective pain management starts with listening. Every patient has a different history, different symptoms, and different goals. Rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach, our team works to develop personalized treatment plans focused on reducing pain, improving function, and helping patients regain a better quality of life.
Comprehensive Pain Management
Pain is complex, and successful treatment often requires looking beyond the symptoms alone.
At BioHealth Pain Management, we evaluate the underlying factors contributing to each patient's condition and consider the full picture when recommending care. Depending on the diagnosis, treatment may include conservative therapies, image-guided procedures, interventional treatments, neuromodulation, or other advanced approaches.
Our physicians care for patients experiencing a wide range of conditions, including:
- Neck and low back pain
- Sciatica and radiculopathy
- Spinal stenosis
- Cervical and lumbar spondylosis
- Facet and sacroiliac joint pain
- Post-laminectomy syndrome
- Osteoarthritis and chronic joint pain
- Myofascial pain
- Tendinopathy and bursitis
- Peripheral neuropathy and neuropathic pain
- Complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS)
- Occipital, intercostal, trigeminal, and postherpetic neuralgia
- Chronic headaches and migraines
- Vertebral compression fractures
- Cancer-related pain
- Fibromyalgia and chronic widespread pain
- Work-related and motor vehicle accident-related pain conditions
- Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)
Our Physicians
Experience Meets Advanced Pain Medicine
BioHealth Pain Management is led by experienced physicians with specialized training in pain medicine and anesthesiology.
Medical Director Rostam Khoshsar, MD, is board-certified in anesthesiology and pain medicine and serves as an Associate Clinical Professor at the University of California, Irvine. His background in clinical care, academic medicine, and pain research helps shape the practice's commitment to thoughtful, evidence-based treatment and advanced interventional techniques.
BioHealth Pain Management has also been involved in innovative approaches to difficult-to-treat conditions. Dr. Khoshsar has extensive experience with stellate ganglion block (SGB) and participated in research involving the use of SGB for post-traumatic stress disorder among veterans.
Together, the BioHealth team combines clinical experience with modern treatment options to provide care for patients with both common and complex pain conditions.
More Than Managing Symptoms
We want to understand why it hurts, how it is affecting your life, and what can realistically be done about it.
That starts with a careful evaluation and an accurate diagnosis. From there, we work with each patient to determine appropriate treatment options based on their condition, previous treatments, overall health, and personal goals.
For some patients, the priority may be returning to work. For others, it may be sleeping comfortably, walking farther, exercising again, or simply getting through the day with less pain.
Those goals matter because successful pain management is ultimately about helping people function better and live more fully.
Our Approach to Care
Five commitments behind every treatment plan
Personalized Treatment
Every treatment plan begins with the individual. We consider your symptoms, medical history, diagnosis, previous treatments, lifestyle, and goals before recommending care.
Advanced Options
Our physicians use modern pain management techniques and minimally invasive interventional procedures when appropriate, giving patients access to options beyond traditional medication-based pain management.
Focus on Function
Pain relief is important, but it is only part of the picture. Treatment is also focused on improving mobility, function, independence, and overall quality of life.
Clear Communication
Understanding your diagnosis and treatment options is an important part of making informed healthcare decisions. Our team takes the time to explain recommendations and answer questions throughout your care.
Compassionate Care
Chronic pain can be physically and emotionally exhausting. We strive to create an environment where patients feel heard, respected, and supported throughout their treatment.
Complex & Chronic Pain
Care for Complex and Chronic Pain
Many patients come to BioHealth Pain Management after living with pain for months or years or after previous treatments have provided limited relief.
Complex pain often requires a different approach.
Our team evaluates each patient's condition carefully and may use a combination of treatment strategies rather than relying on a single solution. This allows us to address different sources and mechanisms of pain while adjusting care as a patient's needs change.
Whether pain is related to the spine, joints, nerves, an injury, surgery, cancer, or another chronic condition, our goal remains the same: find the most appropriate path forward and help you achieve meaningful improvement.
Helping You Move Forward
Living with pain can change the way you approach almost every part of your day.
Getting the right care can be an important step toward changing that.
BioHealth Pain Management provides advanced, personalized pain management for patients throughout Southern California, with convenient locations in Lawndale, Whittier, Arcadia, and Encino.
